Your first win with Forge.
Open the Forge panel and put a built-in Block to work on your own comp in under a minute.
Open the Forge
Forge is the hands-on panel: you do the work, no AI involved. After installing Altar, open Window → Extensions → Altar Forge. Open a comp and Forge is ready. Every Block acts on the comp you are looking at, so what you see is what it changes.
Forge is a canvas of small, focused Blocks. Pick one, point it at your layers, and it does the tedious part. You keep the composition and the taste.
What is on the Canvas
The public beta starts with 24 certified Tools: 17 Selection Tools and seven Widgets for command search, alignment, easing, colour, primitives, text animation, and pre-rendering.
You are not meant to learn all of them. Find the two or three that match the part of your day you dislike most, and keep those within reach.
Run your first Block
- Select what you want to change
Most Blocks act on your current selection: the selected layers, the selected keyframes, or the selected properties. Make that selection in After Effects first, the same way you would for any other tool.
- Press the Block
A one-click Block runs immediately. A Block with controls opens them first, so you can set values before anything touches your comp.
- Check the comp, then undo if you want
Every change Forge makes lands on real properties, and a comp change is a normal After Effects undo step. If it is not what you wanted, press Cmd/Ctrl+Z and nothing is left behind.
Next steps
- Learn how Altar works.
- Arrange the Canvas around the Tools you use most.
