Accepting these terms
By downloading Altar, signing in to your Account, or using any of its panels inside After Effects, you agree to these terms. If you are accepting on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to bind that company. If you do not agree, do not install Altar.
Your account
A free Account is required to download content from the Altar Vault. You are responsible for your credentials and for the AI provider key you connect to Altar Chat. Altar never charges you for AI inference — you bring your own key, and your use of that key is governed by your agreement with your provider.
You must be at least 16 years old to hold an Altar Account.
Your work
Your projects, comps, and renders stay yours. Sidequest Plugins claims no ownership over the compositions you create with Altar, whether you forge them by hand, conjure them with Chat, or build on a Pack pulled from the Vault. Content you purchase from the Vault is licensed to you for use in your own motion-design work.
Plans and purchases
Altar is offered as a free plan, a one-off Pro purchase (unlimited Forge and Chat access, one year of updates, and a fixed bundle of Vault Packs frozen at purchase), and an All-Access subscription (all Packs current and future, plus AI-feature access). Individual Vault Packs may also be purchased on their own.
One-off purchases are not recurring. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel; you keep access until the end of the paid period. If something is broken on our end, write to [email protected] within 14 days and we will make it right.
Acceptable use
Altar is a tool for legitimate motion-design work. You may not redistribute or resell Vault content as your own, reverse-engineer the plugin, or use it to produce unlawful content. We may suspend access for material violations, and we will tell you why.
Intellectual property
The Altar name, the plugin code, the panel designs, the Vault content we author, and the documentation are owned by Sidequest Plugins. Purchasing a plan or a Pack licenses you to use them; it does not transfer ownership. You keep ownership of any feedback you send us, but grant us a license to act on it.
Limitation of liability
Altar is provided as is. Within the limits the law allows, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — lost time, lost work, or output produced by a third-party AI provider through your key.
Our total liability for any claim is capped at the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Termination
You may stop using Altar at any time. We may suspend access for non-payment or material violations of the acceptable use clause, with notice where the situation allows.
Changes to these terms
We update these terms when Altar changes. Material changes are posted at motionaltar.com and, where we have your email, sent to Account holders before they take effect. Continued use after that date is acceptance.
