Altar is an infinitely customizable After Effects toolbox. It lives inside After Effects, keeps focused actions close, and leaves the result as ordinary, editable project content.
Start with certified Tools
The public beta begins with 24 certified Tools: 17 Selection Tools plus Anchor + Align + Distribute, Command Search, Easing, Color Swatches, Primitives, Text Point, and Pre-render. They cover focused selection work alongside common layout, animation, styling, creation, and rendering tasks.
The public count is deliberately smaller than Altar’s internal development catalog. Every named launch Tool has passed the certification work for the public release.
Shape the Canvas around your work
Arrange Tools on a Canvas that fits the job. Modifier keys can change a Widget’s mode without opening another panel. Then add your own scripts, expressions, presets, effects, and menu commands as Buttons beside the built-in Tools.
Altar does not ask you to replace the workflow you already trust. It gives those actions one place to live.
Selection is the default target
Most Tools begin with the active composition and current selection. That keeps an operation focused and makes the result easy to inspect. The output remains normal After Effects content, so you can edit it, undo it, or continue by hand.
Public beta and private previews
The current public beta offer is the Altar toolbox and its certified Tools. Selected existing testers may also have private-preview access to Chat or Vault. Those previews are not part of the current public beta offer.
The closed beta is free and opens in small waves. There is no fixed invitation date and a place is not guaranteed.
