What we collect
When you use Altar, we collect what we need to run your Account and deliver the content you buy: your sign-in identity, purchase and license records, and the Vault Packs associated with your Account.
Altar reads your After Effects compositions locally, through the Bridge, so it can show you what is on your timeline and apply the changes you ask for. That comp state is processed on your machine to drive the plugin. If you use Altar Chat, your prompts and the relevant comp context are sent to the AI provider whose key you supplied — under that provider’s own privacy terms, not ours.
We collect anonymous, always-on product telemetry so we can keep Altar reliable — plugin version, feature usage, and error reports. This telemetry is not tied to your identity.
What we use it for
We use your data to run your Account, deliver and license Vault content, bill purchases and subscriptions, and improve the plugin. We never sell your data. We never use the contents of your comps or your Chat prompts to train shared models.
Where it lives
Account and purchase data is held on vetted infrastructure and encrypted in transit and at rest. Your comp data stays on your machine except for the context Altar Chat sends to your chosen AI provider when you use it.
Your rights
You can export or delete the data tied to your Account. If you operate in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights — access, portability, restriction, objection. Write to [email protected] and we will route it to a human.
Cookies & analytics
The marketing site at motionaltar.com uses essential cookies for sign-in and a small set of privacy-respecting analytics cookies for traffic shape. No third-party advertising trackers, ever. You can refuse non-essential cookies and change your mind from the footer of any page.
Subprocessors
We rely on a short list of vetted providers — cloud hosting, content delivery, transactional email, and payments. Each is bound by a data processing agreement that mirrors the protections in this policy. The AI provider you connect to Altar Chat is not our subprocessor; you choose it, and it handles your prompts under its own terms.
Children
Altar is built for motion designers. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
Changes
We update this policy when we change how we handle data. Material changes are posted at motionaltar.com and emailed to Account holders before they take effect.
