How Altar works.
Learn how Altar targets After Effects selections, runs deterministic Tools, and leaves editable project content behind.
Altar runs inside After Effects and works through the same project you have open. Its public Selection Tools turn focused, repeatable actions into buttons and widgets on a Canvas you arrange yourself.
Target
The active composition and current selection are the default target. A Tool checks that the required layers or properties exist before it changes them.
Run
Selection Tools are deterministic. The same valid target and settings produce the same kind of edit, without an AI inference step.
Review
Results stay as ordinary After Effects layers, properties, keyframes, effects, and expressions. Inspect the result in the timeline, adjust it directly, or undo it with After Effects.
Customize
Rearrange the Canvas and add your own scripts, expressions, presets, effects, and menu commands. The goal is one toolbox for the actions you already trust, not a new workflow you have to learn around.
